Single Tooth Dental Implants

When you are missing just one tooth and need a replacement, dental implants are often the best option because they do not burden or jeopardize the health of the neighboring teeth. Dental implants are made of three parts: screw, connector, and crown. We insert the implant into your jaw, so it stands alone, looking and functioning like a natural tooth.

Implant Supported Overdenture

If you are missing all upper or lower teeth, we offer several implant-supported teeth replacement options.

Ball Attachment Denture

Those missing a full arch of lower teeth are excellent candidates for a ball attachment denture, a prosthetic that snaps onto two implants we place in your lower jaw. The implants provide stability to the denture, but as is the case with all removable teeth, there is the potential for food particles to get caught underneath and the need for occasional adjustments.

Bar Attachment Denture

A more stable option that allows for very little movement is the bar attachment denture which snaps onto four to six implants, depending on your jaw size and shape. Once we’ve placed the implants and you’ve had a chance to heal, we connect them to a customized support bar. We design the denture with special internal retention clips that attach to the support bar allowing it to snap securely into place. Even though this option is more secure, it is still removable for cleaning and maintenance.

Hybrid Implant Denture

If you’re looking for a permanent denture, a prosthetic attached to implants that doesn’t need to be removed, this third option may be the perfect fit.

Screw-Retained Denture

Many of our patients choose this option because it’s permanent. The screw-retained denture is attached to five or more implants that we place in your jaw. The denture doesn’t touch your gum tissue, so you can clean under it without removing it. In fact, the only reason you would ever need to remove the denture is for maintenance visits.

Bone Grafting for Implants

If your tooth was removed years ago or the bony ridge or the walls of the socket are thin, you may need a bone graft to build up the site of the potential implant. We place a bone graft next to the thin bone and let it heal for 6 months before moving forward with implant placement. The procedure is routine procedure that we do in our office with local anesthesia, and once the graft has fused nicely with the jawbone, we will schedule an appointment for your dental implant surgery.
