St. Petersburg Pre-Prosthetic Surgery

St. Petersburg Oral Surgery & Dental Implants  FL

The preparation of your mouth before the placement of a prosthesis is referred to as pre-prosthetic surgery.

Some patients require minor oral surgical procedures before receiving a partial or complete denture, in order to ensure the maximum level of comfort. A denture sits on the bone ridge, so it is very important that the bone is the proper shape and size. If a tooth needs to be extracted, the underlying bone might be left sharp and uneven. For the best fit of a denture, the bone might need to be smoothed out or reshaped. Occasionally, excess bone would need to be removed prior to denture insertion.

Our mission is a commitment to excellence in every aspect of patient care.

Patient Review By Ralph B

Having teeth extracted is not something I ever wanted to do but I have to say that Dr Fort and his staff went above and beyond to make me comfortable in both my initial consultation and the actual procedure 4 days later. There was a very knowledgable staff member that spoke to my wife, giving her instructions for my care. She also gave written instructions as well. The most amazing thing is that I actually got a call from Dr Fort on a Saturday evening at 7:30 checking on me. I don't think I had ever experienced that before. Dr. Fort truly does care for his patients.

Patient Review By Robert P

I was in a severe motorcycle accident on December 22nd. The entire front-right side of my skull was shattered, I thought I would die. I was rushed to Bayfront Medical Center and greeted by the Trauma Team and Dr. Fort, who sat with me in the ICU and explained his plan to put my face back together. I don’t have to words to explain how his presence simply put me at ease. He visited me in the hospital every single day while we waited for my swelling to reduce enough to perform the surgery. He even took time out of his Christmas Day to stop by my hospital bed. We were finally cleared for surgery 2 days after Christmas. Dr Fort went the proverbial extra mile in the OR to ensure the greatest possible outcome for me and to maximize my comfort. I’m writing this from my hospital bed less than 12 hours post-op and Dr Fort just left my room and cleared me for discharge so that I can finally go home and open Christmas presents with my wife and daughter. Dr Fort is truly an angel on Earth and I am looking forward to my weekly in-office visits with him as I continue on my path to recovery. I can’t thank you enough, Doctor.
